T&D Glazing and Installation Limited is looking for an experienced Facade Site Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of our facade installation workforce in Manchester.

We are a UK facade installation company, not a recruitment agency. You will work directly for T&D Glazing and Installation Limited.

We already have an active project in Manchester, so the successful candidate could start immediately and initially support the existing management team before moving to an upcoming project. However, we are looking for the right long-term fit, not simply the fastest available person. If the right candidate is currently committed to another project, we are prepared to wait until they finish.

The role

You will take ownership of the facade installation activities on site, ensuring that the workforce is properly organised, supported and driven to achieve safe, high-quality progress.

Your responsibilities will include

• Planning and coordinating daily and long-term installation activities
• Managing installers, team leaders and supervisors
• Coordinating with the Project Manager, QA team, QS/commercial team and senior site management
• Reading and understanding construction drawings and installation details
• Planning labour, materials, access, lifting operations and site resources
• Identifying upcoming requirements and resolving potential problems before they affect progress
• Chasing materials, drawings, information and decisions required by the installation team
• Conducting daily start briefings and regular toolbox talks
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements and lifting-operation procedures
• Monitoring productivity, workmanship, quality and programme progress
• Maintaining clear records of daily site activities
• Producing detailed daily reports covering progress, labour, delays, issues and completed works
• Motivating the workforce, particularly during difficult or high-pressure periods
• Taking practical, timely decisions when problems arise on site

A practical, hands-on manager

(This is not an office-only management position)

From time to time, the Site Manager must be prepared to work alongside the installation team, demonstrate the correct method and physically assist with an installation task when necessary. This may mean a few hours in a typical week or, occasionally, one or two full days in a month.

Our directors also support the workforce in this way when required. A strong manager does not simply criticise or replace people when they struggle. They step in, explain the task, demonstrate the correct method and help the team move forward safely and productively.

The ideal candidate

You should have

• At least three years of relevant facade installation management experience
• Experience within the facade sector, preferably on mid- to high-rise buildings
• Strong knowledge of glazing, cladding, curtain walling or unitised facade systems
• A good understanding of health and safety and lifting-operation procedures
• Strong planning, organisational and resource-management skills
• The ability to think ahead and prepare realistic short-, medium- and long-term plans
• Clear communication and strong people-management skills
• A proactive, lead-by-example approach
• The ability to remain calm, solve problems and make decisions under pressure
• The discipline to follow instructions from the senior site management team
• Full-time presence on site and the ability to motivate and drive the workforce

A safe, organised site is a productive site. We are looking for someone who can lead people properly, maintain standards and keep the installation programme moving.

T&D Glazing and Installation Limited is a specialist facade installation contractor established in 2003, delivering projects across the UK.

Our work includes unitised facade systems, curtain walling, glazing, windows, rainscreen cladding and associated facade installation works on commercial and residential developments, including major high-rise projects.

Over more than 20 years, we have built and maintained a workforce of approximately 300 people, with some members of our team having worked with T&D since 2005.
