Role Description

The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Washington, DC, responsible for supporting Colonial Parking’s financial operations and ensuring accurate, timely reporting. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes.

The role involves analyzing financial data, preparing internal and external financial reports, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with operations and management teams to explain financial results, address variances, and recommend process improvements.

Additional responsibilities may include assisting with audits, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and company policies, and contributing to the enhancement of internal controls and financial systems.

Qualifications

• Strong general accounting skills, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and month-end close activities.
• Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, with the ability to analyze variances and provide clear explanations to stakeholders.
• Experience working with accounting software and enterprise systems; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
• Knowledge of GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements, with a focus on accuracy, integrity, and internal control best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across finance, operations, and management teams.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
• CPA or progress toward certification is highly beneficial.
• Relevant experience in a senior or lead accounting role; experience in real estate, parking, or service-based industries is a plus.
