Accounting Specialist

McKinley Paper and Packaging Company is looking for a Accounting Specialist responsible for performing a variety of accounting and administrative tasks to support plant operations, with a focus on accuracy, organization, and confidentiality.

This position requires prior experience in a corrugating and converting manufacturing environment and includes cross-functional support for human resources and front-office duties. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting & Finance
• Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring invoices and payments are accurately coded, entered, and reconciled.
• Maintain general ledger entries, journal postings, and assist with month-end and year-end closings.
• Reconcile daily production, inventory, and shipping reports between corrugating and converting departments.
• Track raw material usage, waste, and cost allocations for accurate financial reporting.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities, providing cost and variance analysis as needed.
• Maintain vendor relationships and ensure compliance with company procurement procedures.
• Manufacturing Support (Corrugating & Converting)
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to validate daily production logs, downtime tracking, and material consumption reports.
• Monitor production-related expenses and assist with job cost analysis.
• Generate reports to support plant management in monitoring efficiency, scrap rates, and operational metrics.
• Human Resources & Administration
• Assist HR with onboarding documentation, attendance tracking, and maintaining employee files.
• Support timekeeping and payroll preparation by verifying hours, correcting punches, and communicating with department leads.
• Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive employee and company information.
• Receptionist & Office Support
• Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, vendors, and incoming calls, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment.
• Distribute mail, manage office supplies, and coordinate administrative logistics for meetings and plant events.
• Support communication between departments to ensure smooth office and plant operations.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Experience:2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corrugating and converting manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, inventory tracking, and cost accounting.
• Exposure to HR or payroll processes a plus.

Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
• Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

Work Environment

Office-based with regular interaction with production areas.

Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing setting with frequent coordination across departments.
