In the Gulf, most of continental Europe, and much of Asia, recruiters expect a photo on your CV, and a resume without one can look incomplete. In the US, UK, Canada, and Australia the opposite is true: photos invite bias concerns and are usually left off. The first decision is knowing which market you are applying into.

These templates handle the photo properly. Your headshot is placed by the design, sized and cropped consistently, and printed sharply in the PDF instead of being pasted awkwardly into a text document. Upload your photo once and switch between any of these layouts without redoing the work.

Common questions

Should I put a photo on my resume?

It depends on the market. A photo is standard in the UAE and wider Gulf, Germany, France, Spain, and much of Asia and Latin America. It is discouraged in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia, where employers avoid appearance-based screening. If you are applying in both kinds of markets, keep two versions of your resume.

What kind of photo works best on a CV?

A recent, well-lit headshot with a plain background, business or business-casual dress, and your face filling most of the frame. Avoid cropped group photos, heavy filters, and selfies. Our builder crops your upload to fit each template automatically, so a straightforward head-and-shoulders shot works everywhere.
