Senior Financial Accountant - Financial Operations

Introduction

An established company is seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Financial Accountant to take full ownership of its operational finance function.

This role is suited to a proactive accounting professional who understands the detail behind every transaction, takes accountability for the numbers and actively investigates and resolves financial discrepancies.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Key Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the General Ledger
• Prepare monthly management accounts
• Prepare journals, accruals and provisions
• Review and reconcile Balance Sheet accounts
• Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
• Oversee debtor ageing, collections, creditor reconciliations and payment runs
• Complete bank, intercompany, GL and control account reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve financial variances and discrepancies
• Monitor cashflow and prepare forecasts
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting
• Strengthen financial controls and improve accounting processes
• Identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiencies
• Mentor and support the finance team
• Work closely with Operations to ensure financial integrity
• Maintain statutory compliance and audit readiness

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years’ practical accounting experience
• Proven experience in an operational finance environment
• Experience in a high-volume, low-value transaction environment
• Strong General Ledger and month-end reporting experience
• Solid Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable experience
• Strong reconciliation and cashflow management skills
• Experience leading or mentoring a finance team
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong working knowledge of ERP accounting systems
• Excellent financial analysis and problem-solving abilities
