Financial Controller

Financial Controller | TipperaryOur client, a well-established and highly respected engineering and steel fabrication business based in Tipperary, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their senior leadership team.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this is a key appointment within the organisation and offers an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused finance professional to contribute to the continued growth and success of a leading Irish engineering company.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the finance function, ensuring the delivery of accurate financial reporting, robust financial controls, and strategic financial support to the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the finance function.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior management.
• Support the CFO in delivering strategic financial insights and business planning initiatives.
• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury activities.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors, financial institutions, and advisors.
• Develop and maintain effective financial controls, policies, and procedures.
• Provide financial analysis and performance reporting to support business decision-making.
• Partner with operational teams to drive cost control, efficiency improvements, and profitability.
• Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
• Lead, mentor, and develop members of the finance team.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.

Candidate Profile

Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).

Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar senior finance role.

Previous experience within engineering, manufacturing, construction, or a project-based environment is highly desirable.

Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management experience.

Excellent commercial acumen and business partnering skills.

Strong understanding of financial controls and governance.

Experience managing and developing finance teams.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.A proactive and hands-on approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
