GENERAL SUMMARY

To support the development of STARR Hong Kong's Casualty portfolio by originating, underwriting and managing profitable casualty business, with a primary focus on Hong Kong direct business and facultative/reinsurance opportunities across the covered markets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Underwrite and assess risk exposure, policy terms, pricing adequacy, profitability, while maintaining underwriting discipline and portfolio quality in adherence with underwriting guidelines, authority levels and profitability objectives.
• Good knowledge of casualty products including but not limited to General Liability, Public & Products Liability, Multinational Casualty programs, Excess & Umbrella Liability, Contractors Legal Liability, Commercial lines, Casualty, Product Liability and related specialty solutions.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with business counterparts, including developing and executing account strategies and business pipelines for key brokers, cedants and targeted industry sectors, to support the growth of Casualty portfolio.
• Support development and refinement of casualty products and specialty solutions, along with Head of Casualty HK.
• Work closely with claims, regional underwriting teams as well as relevant stakeholders, to execute Hong Kong Casualty business plan.
• Prepare business production and planning exercises, on regular and ad-hoc basis, when required.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications with ability to analyze underwriting data and prepare broker-facing presentations. Experience with Power BI, CRM systems, and underwriting platform is advantageous.

Education

• University graduate or above, with bachelor’s degree in business, Insurance, Risk Management, Law or related discipline.
• Professional insurance qualifications (ANZIIF, ACII or equivalent) preferred.

Experience

• 5–8 years of insurance industry experience with relevant Casualty underwriting, insurance broking, reinsurance broking or commercial risk advisory role.
• Casualty experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Demonstrate strong commercial insurance knowledge and willingness to develop casualty expertise. Self-motivated and capable of working in a dynamic environment
