Account Executive (New Business) – Municipal & Commercial | Remote (Alberta, Canada)The Opportunity
Our client is a fast-growing managed IT and cybersecurity provider supporting municipalities and commercial organizations across North America. Built through strategic acquisitions, the company has deep roots in Edmonton and is continuing to invest in expanding its Canadian sales team.
This is a 100% new business, hunter role focused on generating net-new logos throughout Alberta, with additional opportunities in British Columbia and Manitoba. This position sits exclusively on the business development team—there is no account management, inherited book of business, renewals, or farming of existing customers.
You'll own your territory, build pipeline from scratch, and partner with technical resources to win complex managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud, and professional services opportunities.
What You'll Do
- Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through close
- Generate your own pipeline through cold calling, networking, referrals, events, digital outreach, and other creative outbound strategies
- Prospect municipalities and commercial organizations throughout Alberta, with additional opportunities in British Columbia and Manitoba
- Develop executive relationships with key decision-makers
- Conduct consultative discovery meetings to uncover business challenges and position managed IT and cybersecurity solutions
- Qualify opportunities around business pain, budget, decision-makers, timeline, and technical fit
- Collaborate with Sales Engineers throughout technical discovery, solution validation, and proposal development
- Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and activity within CRM
- Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and municipal associations
- Consistently exceed pipeline generation and revenue goals
What We're Looking ForRequired Experience
- 4–5+ years of quota-carrying B2B sales experience
- Proven success selling managed IT services (MSP), IT solutions, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, or similar technology offerings
- Demonstrated success in a true hunter role, consistently generating net-new business through self-sourced prospecting
- Experience owning the entire sales cycle from prospecting through close
- Strong track record of consistent quota attainment
- Ability to articulate personal sales metrics including outbound activity, meetings generated, opportunity conversion, close rates, and quota performance
Preferred Experience
- Experience selling into municipalities, local government, First Nations organizations, utilities, or other public sector organizations
- VAR or technology solutions sales experience with significant self-generated business development
- Formal sales methodology training such as Sandler, MEDDPICC, MEDDIC, BANT, or similar qualification frameworks
- Experience selling alongside technical resources such as Sales Engineers
- HubSpot or similar CRM experience

Compensation
- Base Salary: $90,000
- On-Target Earnings: $180,000 (90/90 structure)
- Uncapped commission
- Flexibility available for exceptional candidates, including alternative commission-heavy compensation structures
Location & Travel
- Remote position
- Preferred location: Edmonton, Alberta
- Secondary preference: Calgary, Alberta
- British Columbia candidates will be considered if an Alberta hire is not secured
- Approximately 2–3 days of travel per month, primarily throughout Alberta with occasional travel into British Columbia and Manitoba
- Candidates should be comfortable spending time in the field attending customer meetings, networking events, conferences, and municipal functions
